We finally got together for our first ride on Saturday. We met at Rutters, said our introductions and talked for a little while before heading out to KClingers tavern for a bite to eat. We had a good time sitting around talking before we got on our bikes and went riding. The ride itself went pretty well. I spent most of my time trying not to kill myself while riding and trying to take pictures at the same time. The only mechanical issues were all mine unfortunately. First of all my Batavus got hot going up some slight inclines and started slowing down. It practically came to a stop at one point but then it straightened out eventually. The other problem happed when I was not too far from home. The tip of my exhaust pipe fell off! I had no idea it happened but luckily Dan was riding behind me at the time and saw it. And I thought I had all my nuts and bolts tightened up. I've always heard that the vibrations from mopeds will work things loose, now I have first-hand experience. ...

Our first ride is to be tomorrow in Hanover. I'll try to post a summary of the ride and put some pictures on our site sometime Sunday. So far the weather looks like it's going to cooperate.

I was hoping to write all about our first ride today but it was canceled due to rain. Let's hope next Friday gives us a little sun.
28 May 06 - 19:34The beginning of the blog
Well, This is the first entry into the Hanover Area Moped Blog. Unfortunately I don't have much to say. Let me start by saying thanks to Dan, Kevin and Terry for getting involved with this club. I hope more people will join so we can start a moped revolution! Ok, maybe not a moped revolution but at least enough members so when people ask me how many people are in our gang, they don't laugh when I say four.
Also, I can't wait until Friday! In case you didn't know, that would be the date of our first club ride. I hope the old Batavus holds up! I'm a little nervous about riding with other people though, it will be my first time. Thank goodness I got a rear view mirror yesterday so I can now keep an eye on things behind me, that makes me feel a little more comfortable on the road.
That's all I can think of for now, I'll probably write some more as we get closer to our ride Friday.
